Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1 years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An educational specialist is needed to serve as an Intervener Substitute for a first-grade student with dual sensory impairments in an elementary school setting. This contract position offers six weeks of leave coverage beginning March 2, 2026, and follows a standard Monday through Friday school-day schedule. Responsibilities: Provide consistent, individualized one-on-one support following the students established routines and communication methods. Facilitate communication, orientation, mobility, and access to the curriculum tailored to the student's needs. Implement sensory access strategies and support sensory, environmental, and safety requirements. Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, related service providers, and the Student Services team. Document student observations and progress in accordance with district guidelines. Maintain continuity of services during the primary interveners leave. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors degree is required. Valid Short-Call Substitute License (PELSB) is mandatory. Prior experience as an intervener is required, with district preference given to those with such background. Experience working with students who have sensory impairments, particularly deafblindness, is highly preferred. Strong ability to implement communication systems and sensory access strategies. Excellent collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
