frames, and sunglasses.GENERAL FUNCTIONSThe Sr. Director of
Operations oversees all operations and people management aspects of
an optical lab. The scope of the role may vary based on various
factors, such as the volume, number of employees, the type of lab,
and other factors. The volume of jobs per day is approximately >
6 for Industrial labs.The responsibility includes strategy and
leadership to achieve metrics for safety, quality, production, and
people management. The Director of Operations is responsible for
developing high-performing teams, customer-service focus, leading
change, continuous improvement, driving results, inspecting what is
expected, and building a best-in-class working environment. Reports
to the Vice President of Operations and communicates performance
progress and support needed.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enforces safety and compliance policies and procedures for a
safe and compliant work environment.
- Leads activities to achieve operations efficiency through
financial and budget activities, organizational structure,
operational procedures and practices, production flow, quality,
resource allocation, continuous improvements, and managing
expenses.
- Reviews and analyzes data, trends, and needs to determine
strategies needed to achieve expected results.
- Identifies and implements strategies in operations and people
management to achieve expected results. Seeks and implements
standards and best practices.
- Uses formal and informal communications to build excitement
about the strategy and keep employees informed and motivated.
- Provides individual team members with challenging and clear
performance objectives directly tied to the market and lab network
strategy.
- Oversees production and quality progress by reviewing reports
and data, managing performance, and inspecting production and
quality progress. Inspects what is expected.
- Drives execution of metrics through action plans and
accountability.
- Partners with leadership to communicate progress and support
and resources needed.
- Fosters a positive work environment (e.g., teamwork, fairness,
engagement) and ensures employees demonstrate the company's
values.
- Conducts people management responsibilities including
interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning,
and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
problems. Performs these responsibilities for direct reports and
supports these efforts for indirect reports, as needed.
- Builds and develops the leadership team to ensure capabilities
for executing operational strategies; this includes leading talent
development practices (e.g., performance management and succession
planning) to ensure development for all employees.BASIC
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience with leading others.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or related
environment.
- Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities.
- Must be able to travel as needed to meet the needs of the lab
operations.
- Experience in a very high-volume environment with complex
technical processes.
- Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution,
and team-based success.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
- Previous experience leading process improvement initiatives
within a production environment utilizing Lean Manufacturing and 6
Sigma tools and processes.Pay Range: 177,353.00 -213,284.14Employee
pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography,
experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage
requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive
bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total
