Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for
this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad
range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual
salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors,
including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the
skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the
candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our
comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also
eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. Salary Range
$149,600.00 – $246,800.00 Target Openings 1 What Is the
Opportunity? Travelers Data Engineering team constructs pipelines
that contextualize and provide easy access to data by the entire
enterprise. As a Data Engineering Senior Director you will
accelerate growth and transformation of our analytics landscape. In
this role, you will lead teams designing and building data
solutions that capture, explore, transform and utilize data to
support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and business
intelligence/insights. In addition to ingesting data from multiple
sources and relaying information to relevant partners, you will
also mentor and develop a team of data engineers. This role is in
BI Analytics and Research Organization. You will lead and partner
with Actuarial Product, Architecture, A&R and other stakeholder
teams to prioritize, scope and implement data solutions for
pricing, benchmark and other data modernization efforts. What Will
You Do? Oversee pricing data portfolio for BI Analytics and
Research and lead a team consisting of data engineers in
modernizing data pipelines for pricing, benchmark processes.
Partner with BI Data Product, Architecture, and other stakeholder
teams in driving consensus on design and delivery of data
solutions. Lead development of analytic data products, including
pilots and proof of concepts. Execute data strategies to support
various consumption patterns and identify enterprise architecture,
platform, and application infrastructure needs. Identify
opportunities to consolidate and implement common data pipelines
for BIAA processes. Incorporate core data management competencies
including data governance, data security and data quality. Drive
the operationalizing and automating of all capabilities to ensure
secure, supported and scalable solutions. Present analysis and
recommendations to help influence management and executive
leadership decisions. Guide and coach senior team members to
accelerate career development. Establish budgets, policies and
practices with significant impact on area operations. Perform other
duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? 4 years of
AWS, Python, Databricks and Snowflake experience. 3 years of
Insurance industry experience, including 2 years in pricing and
benchmarking. Strong delivery skills with a hands-on approach and
the ability to determine the optimal design strategy, methodology,
and common design frameworks, as well as the tooling to be used for
data solutions, while adhering to standards and best practices.
Advanced knowledge of data tools, techniques, and manipulation
including cloud platforms, programming languages, and technology
platforms. Excellent communication skills with the ability to
develop business partnerships, describe technology concepts in ways
the business can understand, document initiatives in a concise and
clear manner, and attentively listen and consider other thoughts
and ideas. Bachelor’s Degree in STEM related field or equivalent
Eight or more years of related work experience Four or more years
of team leadership experience 2 years of experience in pricing,
benchmark domains Subject matter expertise in data tools,
techniques, and manipulation including cloud platforms, programming
languages, and technology platforms. What is a Must Have?
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training with data tools,
techniques, and manipulation. Six years of data engineering or
equivalent experience One year of previous management experience.
