Join us as we revolutionize kidney care and other vital organ support.*Completion of the proposed separation of Kidney Care from Baxter into a standalone company (to be named Vantive) remains subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions.Your role:As a Data Scientist of Exploratory and Innovation, you will lead and contribute to the identification and early-stage development of new novel approaches to the treatment of kidney disease. In this role, you will apply critical thinking and data science to help drive solutions to better safety, quality, and care for patients.What you'll be doing

  • Lead the design and implementation of the data & analytics architecture to help drive the early development of innovative products in the kidney space.
  • Develop algorithms and signal processing techniques to extract relevant information from sensor data, including noise reduction, feature extraction and pattern recognition.
  • Build scalable end-to-end data pipelines to integrate and model datasets from different sources that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders including other data analytics experts to understand data requirements and downstream analytics needs to ensure alignment to desired business outcomes.
  • Support design and execution of experiments to characterize device performance, assess accuracy, precision, and robustness in relevant clinical scenarios.
  • Drive innovation through a good understanding of data, business drivers, and business needs.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and challenging team-focused global work environment.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies and methodologies in data science technology and explore opportunities for innovation and intellectual property development.What you'll bring:
    • Graduate or Post-Graduate in Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline. An advanced technical degree preferred.
    • Experience integrating data science principles and techniques into medical device firmware, software, and hardware.
    • Proficiency in Python, Jupyter, SQL, Pandas, Numpy, and open-source data science Python packages as well as frameworks.
    • Capacity to handle tasks of data mining, cleaning, validation, analysis, and visualization.
    • Able to effectively communicate core data science and product design concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods, inclusive of data visualization and interpretation techniques.
    • Effectively operate in and may facilitate cross-functional teams including R&D, commercial, and medical team stakeholders.
    • Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to make sound decisions, think critically and break down complex problems.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact externally and internally to support business and innovation strategy.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $104,000 to $14,000 plus an annual incentive bonus and equity target. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position.
